I finally got around to making some pan pipes in PVC. They are so simple to make (especially if you have a good chromatic tuner!) and sound great! It's really a versatile instrument. I'm looking forward to using them a lot in my show.
These are made from standard 16mm PVC electrical tubing with tunable corks in the end. They're laid out like a piano keyboard but are tuned to G instead of C which makes it easier to use them together with a ukulele.
They're glued together with PVC cement and I cut tubes into small squares as extra supports. The're so strong you could use them as a weapon if it ever came down to it.
They only cost about 2 dollars to build but I think I probably paid something in brain cells smelling all that PVC cement!
